Kevin Durant Traded By Suns To Rockets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 22, 2025 5:10 pm

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks. The Suns accelerated trade talks over the past 24 hours with the Rockets and the Miami Heat.

The San Antonio Spurs were the other team on Durant’s preferred list, but they were not as aggressive in their offers. The Minnesota Timberwolves were also interested, but Durant resisted the idea of a trade there.

Durant has one season remaining on his contract and is expected to sign an extension.

Wow that's insane, we didn't have to give up any of those future first round picks.

Not sure how I feel about losing Brooks but Jalen wasn't often present when we needed him to score in the crunch moments.

It’s just one first round pick, the rest are all seconds

Probably true, although I'm not sure they were going anywhere before. This will allow them to remain competitive while they build around Sengun and Thompson. It's possible that Durant can attract some vet/mins.

On the other side of this deal, PHX now has Beal, Booker, Brooks and Green sharing minutes at SG/SF. I expect another trade will soon be in the works; if not, we will be seeing some interesting small ball lineups in the valley.

As a Rockets fan, I would've preferred to keep the other stuff.

(Cedric Coward  )

But oh well. Hopefully this wasn't Fertitta and/or Udoka overruling Stone, because Stone is the only one of those three I'd trust here.

I feel like the sun did pretty well in this trade.

Green and Brooks make about $54.5 million next season and that's about what KD's contract is $54.7 million. Getting the #10 pick might work out time will tell. Then there is a bunch of 2nds.

Where's Chuck isn't that the Suns own pick coming back them the #10??

It's a bigger deal for ESPN, Houston, and Phoenix that is for anybody else. Literally the rest of the world doesn't care.

If Suns played with 3 SGs, I refuse to watch them. Not even highlights lol

Whether he is gonna stay healthy is a matter off itself, but Rockets died by not being able to score vs Warriors in the playoffs.

This will hugely help with inefficiency - and then some.

How long before KD wears out his welcome in Houston?

A great move by the Rockets, who kept their base intact and added talent.
