Rockets To Decline $44.9M Option On Fred VanVleet With Eye On New Multi-Year Contract
The Houston Rockets are likely to decline their $44.9 million team option on Fred VanVleet with the expectation that they will sign a new multi-year deal. With the Rockets declining their option on VanVleet, they will presumably have more flexibility on the contract type as they manage their salary structure.
VanVleet, who is represented by Rich Paul, signed a three-year, $130 million contract with the Rockets during the 2023 offseason. VanVleet and the Rockets mutually agree to postpone the team option deadline to June 29th. VanVleet previously stated that he hopes to remain with the Rockets.
Last season, VanVleet averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 60 games with the Rockets.
