The Los Angeles Lakers entered the offseason prioritizing the center position, but they have yet to make any moves nearly 24 hours since the official start of free agency. The Lakers are considering signing Deandre Ayton, as well as other options in free agency and on the trade market.
The Lakers were linked with Brook Lopez, but he agreed to sign a two-year, $18 million offer with the Los Angeles Clippers. Because the Lakers signed Jake LaRavia to a two-year, $12 million deal, they were unable to financially match the Clippers' offer to Lopez.
Clint Capela, another center target, agreed to sign with the Houston Rockets.
Ayton has also been considering the Milwaukee Bucks, but they instead were able to sign Myles Turner following their decision to waive-and-stretch Damian Lillard.
