The New York Knicks will hire Mike Brown as their next head coach as both sides work through contract details. Brown will replace Tom Thibodeau as head coach of Knicks' team coming off a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. Brown met with James Dolan as the final part of the process on Tuesday.

Brown is available after he was fired by the Sacramento Kings in December.

The Knicks could also hire James Borrego as Brown's top assistant. Borrego interviewed with the Knicks for the head coaching job. Rick Brunson is expected to be retained as an assistant coach on the staff.

Jason Kidd was initially identified as the Knicks' preferred candidate, but Dallas Mavericks were not amenable to allowing him to leave the franchise.

Can't wait for all Sac fans to starting saying 'I told you so' when he does well with them. Haha, a solid coach but a lateral move compared to Thibs, don't think he's the right coach to take them all the way. He's lacking in strategy, tactics, and crucial game decisions.

Props to JB on job. Sad for Thibs but he is going to be just fine. This little break is going to add a decade to his life then he can come back and coach the out of some lucky team. Even though he is better than this for my own selfish purposes I would love to pick his team in March madness.

The Knicks GM really sat here and improved the team depth, and then proceeded to hire a coach who's just happy to be here.
