Mike Brown, Knicks Agree To Four-Year, $40M Contract

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jul 5, 2025 6:38 pm

The New York Knicks head coaching search came to end when they hired Mike Brown. Now that Brown has been officially hired, we know that the Knicks signed him to a four-year, $40 million contract.

Brown is taking over for Tom Thibodeau, who was fired with three years and $30 million remaining on his contract. Brown's former contract with the Sacramento Kings will be offset by some amount. Sacramento fired him with during the first year of his three-year, $25.5 million extension.

Second round exits in the future. If Knicks move KAT, they'd have a chance. Thibs was a better coach.

Knicks back on mediocre train until KAT is gone

Agree somewhat. I think he is a decent coach for a team near the bottom. NOT a team in the Knicks' position. He raises the floor of franchises and galvanises them. BUT the question remains, can he be a good coach in the POs? At this point everything suggests that's a solid no. Anyone clamoring for Mike as a PO team, just go and look at the Kings/Warriors series a couple of years ago. The Kings should have won that comfortably and then Mike decided to go against the better defenders on Steph in game 7 and it was almost like he was sitting there as a fan, just mesmerized by Steph. One of the weirdest coached games by anyone I have ever seen.

So much for competing for a championship. At least he'll get to keep his 40M after he gets axed midway into next season.
"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope." Rom. 5: 2-4
