The Denver Nuggets have informed Jonas Valanciunas and his representatives that they intend for him to honor his NBA contract. Valanciunas met with Panathinaikos in Greece over the weekend, and reportedly has a three-year, $12 million offer from the EuroLeague power.
The Nuggets are acquiring Valanciunas from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Dario Saric in a pending trade. The veteran center is seen as an ideal backup for Nikola Jokic, which has been a troublesome spot for Denver in recent years.
Valanciunas is owed $10.4 million for this season, with a non-guaranteed $10 million contract for the 2026-27 season. It's unknown what the Nuggets plans are for the second year of Valanciunas' deal, but they expect him to be in Denver this season.

Honor contract ??
Do you think Teams honor the players contract when they sign a free agent on a 4 year deal for them in return trade them for another player a Dec 15th ???
Do you think teams honor a contract when they buy out a player who got hurt and dump them like yesterday’s trash and damaged goods ?
It’s always for the best interest of the team right ? Not the player ?

Teams always honor the contracts. They have zero choice in the matter. When they sign a player unless there is a no trade clause it is within contractual rights for them to trade him. If they buy out a player the player has to agree to the buy out.
The POS players that don't honor their contracts can take the Jimmy Butler route (general soreness) or just make up imaginary injuries. Earache Headache, etc...........

The tragedy here is that Val might have the worst agent in the NBA. His rookie extension with the Raptors before the cap spike is the only time he’s received fair market value for his services. He gets paid like Kevon Looney while producing better than Myles Turner, and always shows up in the playoffs.
