Paul George underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his left knee to treat an injury sustained during a recent workout. The procedure was performed by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at the NYU – Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center.
George will now begin a rehabilitation program and his progress will be monitored regularly. George will be re-evaluated prior to the start of training camp.
In 41 games last season, George averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 32.5 minutes.
George has three seasons remaining on his four-year, $212 million contract signed with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2024 offseason.

Waive and Stretch is almost always a terrible solution. MIL did it to make room for Turner. PHX might do it with Beal because they are morons that can't understand that Beal at 2yr/$111m is infinitely better than Nobody at 5yr/$111m. Why would PHI be waiving PG? Who do they plan on going after with that money? They are currently below the tax threshold but this wouldn't come close to getting them under the cap.
Their best option is to stick with him and hope for health, for PG and Embiid. If PG remains hampered, their best option would be to trade Maxey, Embiid (if possible) and anything else not tied down and let PG be their tank commander until he comes off the books.

The other thing is PG might bounce back if these injuries haven't permanently destroyed him.. When they gave him the contract he was coming off a really good year with the clippers.. Noone would have expected the year he had you might think year 4 wouldn't be much good but you knew you had to captilize on embiid now.. Here is the thing though even though PG was awful they had no chance since embiid was injured anyway and they got to keep their pick which become the number 3 pick.. Last year was a disaster for philly with some decent silver lining..

Good point, just bank on McCain and move maxey while his stock is high, and start over if these guys can’t get healthy (which they won’t)

No need to move off Maxey at all. Bank on McCain? Uhh no. Maxey is young enough to be an important part of a rebuild, and he can easily retain his current trade value for several years. More importantly, it would be a terrible idea to move him while other teams think it's a fire sale. Maxey can probably improve his trade value with big empty stats during a full on tank, without moving the needle much in win/ loss terms. He can move the needle on a contender, but not as the main guy.

PHX may be "morons," but not more than PHI who signed PG with his injury history.

I hate to say it but Philly is all powerful name players. Pg is aging. It comes with 16 years? Embid been injury prone. They need to build a brand new roster untill these two retire. They did a sneaky tank which was so smart. Repeat last season one more time and start fresh. Embid or George won't hold up a full season. Nobody trading for either. Nobody smart will do it.

Philly should let Embiid sit all year and recover, this will allow them to tank

PHX did trade everything for an aging superstar and trade CP3, four 1st swaps and six 2nds just to get locked into what was generally known to be the worst deal in the NBA. They just gave a 2yr/$145m extension to a player that might not be much better than Zach LaVine. (Don't hate me!)
Signing PG was a stupid move. Not having a PF on the roster, thus requiring PG to play that position was even stupider... but I don't think PHX and PHI would want to get into a pissing match about who was the stupidest... It would be embarrassing for everyone involved.

Maxey is the only player they could move and get real assets for. PG is in LaVine situation where he might be neutral value if he can show that he's healthy. Embiid is a positive trade chip because of the upside... but just barely positive. Could they get two protected 1sts for him? It's hard to see the team that would bite.

They owe a top-4 protected pick to the Thunder. They cannot assure that they can duck those protections.
