Victor Wembanyama To Continue Unconventional Training After Kung Fu Temple Work

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 16, 2025 5:04 pm

Victor Wembanyama returned to San Antonio earlier this month following an unconventional offseason training regimen that included a 10-day stay at a Shaolin temple in Zhengzhou, China. Wembanyama was spotted at Victory Capital Performance Center on July 8, signaling his return to basketball activities.

According to sources close to the French phenom, the 21-year-old specifically chose to train in China to push his physical and mental boundaries through different methods. The unique training approach reflects Wembanyama's ongoing quest to explore unconventional preparation techniques.

Sources indicate that Wembanyama came away from the Shaolin temple experience believing it provided significant benefits. The training particularly improved his mental focus and concentration abilities.

The kung fu training also taught Wembanyama valuable lessons about optimal body positioning and range of movement. These techniques could prove beneficial for his on-court performance during the upcoming NBA season.

Following his temple training, Wembanyama vacationed in Japan where he produced several viral social media moments. The trip marked the conclusion of his international offseason before returning to team facilities.

Those close to Wembanyama expect similar unconventional training methods throughout the season. His willingness to explore different physical and mental preparation approaches has become a defining characteristic of his development process.

Wembanyama is known to read before every game as part of his pre-game routine and also doesn't answer any calls or texts after 9:00 PM as he reads before bed.

I wonder if he sparred with Yao.

I keep imagining Wembanyama in Game of Death now.
