Nets Have Yet To Serious Engage Cam Thomas On Contract

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jul 17, 2025 6:58 pm

The Brooklyn Nets have not yet significantly engaged their own restricted free agent Cam Thomas on a contract this offseason, sources tell Jake Fischer. The Nets entered the offseason as the only team in the NBA with significant cap space, but they have been more focused on trades than pursuing any significant free agents.

Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 31.2 minutes over 25 games last season. Thomas is one of the league's better pure scorers, but there are doubts on whether he makes other players better offensively in addition to his defensive concerns.

If Thomas doesn't sign a contract this offseason, he could choose to sign for the $5.99 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Thomas is represented by Alex Saratsis, who also is the agent for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

He would be a great six-man for a winning team. Your not winning with this guy as your starter.

Y can’t he start on a team like the Bucks?
Their team could easily use a perimeter scorer like him. Giannis would still be the man, you got solid bigs and floor spacing. Thomas can get his 20 a night and Bucks should win a lot of games.

They don’t need scoring they need perimeter defense and a playmaker

This feels like this is agent driven content.

My guess is the Nets have made an offer & are holding firm to their number. Thomas' agent is now whining that Net's are not seriously engaging in the negotiation.

Sometimes people's valuations of what they contribute is out of line with reality.
