The Boston Celtics have waived JD Davison. The Celtics picked up their $2.27 million option on Davison in June, but it was non-guaranteed. Davison was the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft.

Davison was last season's G League MVP and was on a Two-Way contract in each of his first three teams with the Celtics. Davison ran out of eligible years on a Two-Way with the Celtics. Davison averaged 25.6 points, 7.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds in the G League this past season.

Davison could compete for a roster spot or a Two-Way with another team.

I kind of feel sad about this one. We just have too much guard depth and not enough front court depth. Could be a precursor to signing Ben Simmons ….
