Heat Unlikely To Sign Backup Center

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Aug 18, 2025 3:33 am

The Miami Heat are unlikely to sign a backup center on a standard contract in the near future. The position could be addressed with a trade or by signing a player to a Two-Way contract. The Heat have 14 players under standard deals and two on Two-Ways.

The Heat worked out Kai Jones last week and they have also been linked with Trey Lyles. Jones is not eligible to sign a Two-Way contract.

Nikola Jovic could serve as Miami's backup center if Erik Spoelstra starts Kel'el Ware alongside Bam Adebayo. The Heat depth chart has typically been thin at backup center in recent seasons.

If they start Bam at PF, he will also be their backup center.

looking increasingly likely the heat are resigned to keeping Wiggins and Fontecchio till next years trade deadline, only some bizarre last minute trade like Towns/Randle can save them.
