John Wall has announced his retirement from basketball. Wall was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards and was a third-team All-NBA selection during the 2016-17 season. Wall was also an Eastern Conference All-Star for five straight seasons between 2014 and 2018.
Wall's career was derailed by injuries beginning during the 2018-19 season where his heel surgery led to a ruptured left Achilles tendon. Wall never played for the Wizards again as he was traded to the Houston Rockets after missing the entire 2019-20 season.
Wall missed the entire 2021-22 season and then played in 34 games for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2022-23 season.
Wall turns 35 in September.

What is the Average NBA Pension?
A retired player must be at least 45 to start receiving an NBA pension. The maximum age limit to qualify is 62 years old. If a player enrolls in the pension plan at age 45, they will receive less money compared to enrolling at ages 50, 55, or 62.
An NBA player with at least ten years of NBA experience can receive a maximum of $215,000 in pension funds annually. If they choose to start receiving payments at age 45 or 50, they will get $800 per month. So, if a basketball player has been retired for three years, they would receive $2,400 monthly as a pension.

Wall should still be able to play, but his gangster persona is what got him out the league.

I didn't even realize he was still in the league TBH. Based on the injury history, he lasted a lot longer than I thought he would though.

This is the first time I see anyone translates the word "injured" as "gangster persona". Weird.

Nobody is translating the word injury for "gangster persona" because look at Klay and Dame, Klay came off a similar two injuries, and he's still in the league. Dame just got re-signed by the Blazers, and he's not playing until the following year. So it was never about the injury.

Nahh. It's those rookie extensions. These guys hang it up once they get the max extensions. After the second max they're basically cashing hundreds of millions and no longer motivated to keep going. Lots of examples out there.
