Malcom Brogdon and the New York Knicks have agreed to a one-year deal. Brogdon spent last season with the Washington Wizards and will be entering his 10th NBA season. Brogdon is represented by Sam Permut.
Brogdon has appeared in only 63 combined games over the past two seasons after winning Sixth Man of the Year in his lone season with the Boston Celtics in 2022-23. Brogdon is a career 38.8 percent three-point shooter, but had a percentage of just 28.6 percent last season with the Wizards.
The Knicks will use Brogdon in a more limited bench role, which could allow him to remain a productive player into his 30s despite his injury history. New York also upgraded their veteran backcourt depth this offseason in signing Jordan Clarkson.
The Knicks also had offseason interest in Ben Simmons.

Not a bad pickup IF he can stay healthy. Limited bench minutes should help for that and Brunson will be able to get much needed rest as well.

I thought NYK only had one spot for Shamet or Brogdon.

None of these are guaranteed deals. Either one wins it or they make a trade and clear space to keep both.

They need to make that trade and Im sorry to tell some folks, but it may come at the expense of a youngin or two but Im trying to win. Kolek.....Im sorry bruh but I didnt see the future many thought he had anyway. Dadiet seems a year from being two years away. If youre a lower or even middle of the pack playoff team I understand how it can seem short sighted but we're a true contender and let's face it. These arent high end prospects we're talking about here. Funny enough Im higher on Diawara than anyone else.
I want BOTH Brogdan and Shamet on this roster.

By my count, this brings them to 14 players. What am I missing?

The second apron. They are hard capped.

That makes more sense. Multiple articles have claimed that the NYK only have one roster spot available, which is clearly not true.
