The Golden State Warriors are expected to discuss trade deals for Jonathan Kuminga this season, according to Jake Fischer of The People's Insider.

Kuminga, who signed a two-year, $48.5 million deal last month, will be eligible for trades on January 15. Kuminga's contract includes a 15% trade kicker should he be traded after that date.

Fischer adds that the relationship between Kuminga and the Warriors is "strained" after their most recent negotiations.

He played well last night and exactly like Kerr wants him to, everyone seemed to be getting along fine, no poor body language, I didn't see any hint of strain.

If a right deal comes along of course the Ws would trade him ASAP. If Ws wanted him long term, a long term deal would had been offered. The 2 year deal with team option is just for that trade flexibility. Now the deal is very attractive to teams that really wanted Kuminga long-term. The new team could negotiate with him, opt out the 2nd year and sign him to a longer contract with the same amount per year. Or just keep him, make him happy, and sign him for longer terms.

Regardless of what the truth is, these journalists will never let it die.

They only care about the clicks.

If he spent the last four years playing exactly how Kerr wanted him to there would be no strain. But this is the preseason and games don't matter. Kuminga put up 12/15/10 Per36 last night. I don't remotely think Kuminga is capable of doing that when games matter, but if he can he'll be HOF bound... and it will also mean Kerr was right to expect better things from him.
