As a POR resident, this is so incredibly unfortunate... But it seems almost inevitable, so I had better find a way to wrap my head around it.

The last thing POR needs is another high USG% player with poor court vision and poor decision making... But Dame/Jrue/Brown/Avdija/Clingan is a pretty nasty starting five.

It has been so frustrating watching Brown repeatedly ISO and dribble the clock down while surrounded by better ball handlers and decision makers... but he did get finals MVP.

There is almost zero chance this actually works... but I guess I'll root for POR anyway. I always do. I said all these same things about Jerami Grant before they brought him in but I excused it because they got him for almost nothing. Then they resigned him to that gawd awful contract like they had never watched him play before. (We know how that worked out!) I wouldn't mind if POR was considering picking Brown up in a similar package, (the draft rights to Gabriele Procida, a conditional 2025 1st round pick) but those MIL picks are gold if Giannis stays in MIL and platinum if he leaves. POR needs to hang onto those until after Dame's wonderfully exciting but inevitably unfruitful return is over. I would deem those untouchable.

Unfortunately, the only reason the Blazers are in the conversation for Brown is those Milwaukee picks. I’d be plum surprised to see JB in Portland without a large draft haul, which may also get Grant out of Rip City.

100% agree... which is why I started my post with, "this is so incredibly unfortunate."

Brown is a very good two-way basketball player. Unfortunately, he takes the ball out of the hands of better decision makers, which is exactly why BOS is willing to part with him. That and the fact that his price tag is unreasonably high at the moment. Here are his rankings on a few advanced stats amongst his own team last season. Of the 13 qualified players only.

USG% - 1st
TOV% - 2nd
STL% - 8th
TRB% - 8th
BLK% - 9th
TS% - 9th
eFG% - 10th
DRtg - 9th
ORtg - 10th
eDiff - 13th (That's dead last!!!)

Amongst all BOS players he was:
Ast/TO - 14th
Stl/TO - 17th

He put up monster counting stats last season, but he is not what people think he is. He should never be running the offense, but that is what he is going to be expecting his roll to be going forward. His super power when they won the title was that BOS was stacked and their opponents were always more concerned about Tatum than Brown.
