But yes, in all seriousness, they need to revisit their analytics "gurus" and the "launch angle, exit velocity and spin rate at all costs" approach and stop trying to tweak everyone's swing or throwing motion (probably what is contributing to their now seemingly decades long propensity to be in the top group in baseball when it comes to injuries). Oh, and put more emphasis on finding out which players can actually handle playing in the spotlight of NY in a Yankee uniform (see Gray, Montas, Gallo, Stanton, (possibly) Rodon) rather than whether they have great exist velocity or spin rates. Players aren't machines so don't view and treat them like they are.
The funny thing is there are CLEARLY analytics and player personnel systems that are better than the Yankees across baseball. And it's usually with the small to mid market teams (Rays, Astros, Braves, etc.). You would think that what they should be doing (as at least a big market team even if Hal isn't willing to do whatever it takes) is trying to get the guys that are running those teams to jump on board when their contracts are up. That front office people don't count against the luxury tax (unlike players) is an added incentive that for some odd reason the Yankees don't seem to adopt. They'll sign players away from other teams but not front office personnel.
