The Chicago Cubs have promoted vice president of player development Jared Banner to assistant general manager, according to a report.
The Cubs lost assistant GM Craig Breslow when he left to become the chief baseball officer of the Boston Red Sox last month.
Banner had been in charge of the farm system for the past two seasons.
