D-Backs Owner Blames Self For \'Horrible\' Jordan Montgomery Signing

After making an unexpected run to the World Series a year ago, the Arizona Diamondbacks looked to add to their roster in the hopes of building a consistent contender.

Instead, the D-backs find themselves missing out on the playoffs after some of the team\'s more notable names failed to have the expected impact.

Team owner Ken Kendrick knows exactly whom to blame for at least one of those moves: himself.

\"If anyone wants to blame anyone for Jordan Montgomery being a Diamondback, you\'re talking to the guy that should be blamed,\" Kendrick told Arizona Sports.

Although Montgomery did not deliver for the Diamondbacks this season, the team had plenty to get it done. The late-season injuries to Marte and Walker made things difficult. Their replacements did well, but Marte and Walker were just not able to hit stride down the stretch when they returned. Injuries are part of the game. Their biggest concern moving to the off-season should be their bullpen. They were very inconsistent most of the season. They had the final two series of the season at home and went 2-4 to the Giants and Padres to close out the season. They shot themselves in the foot and did not deserve to make the playoffs. They will enter next season with one of the more promising starting rotations, health be willing. They will be hungry. And look for Corbin Carroll to hit the ground running next season, after a very slow start this year.
