While the Houston Astros and Alex Bregman have resumed free agent negotiations, a deal between the two sides is considered a \"long shot.\"
“The conversations we’re having, it’s like, ‘Wow, he’s still available.’ That’s why I call it a long shot,” general manager Dana Brown said. “We’re just about ready to go to spring training. Our group is pretty set. We made some moves and some trades and solidified our top five in our lineup.”
Bregman has also received interest from the Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers.
“It’s probably a long shot,” Brown said. “But the fact that he’s a free agent, we’ll have discussions about him like we have discussions about every other free agent.”
