Nolan Arenado remains on the trade block and his situation could be resolved once Alex Bregman signs in free agency. Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals would each like to find a workable trade before the start of the season. Arenado has a no-trade clause.
Sources tell ESPN that Arenado is prepared to waive his no-trade clause for a deal to the Boston Red Sox. Arenado vetoed a proposed trade earlier in the offseason to the Houston Astros.
But the Cardinals have yet to budge on how much they\'re willing to send with the remaining three years and $64 million on his contract. The Cardinals could be forced to eat about half the money he is owed.
In 152 games last season, Arenado had a slash line of .272/.325/.394. Arenado finished third in MVP voting as recently as 2022 when he had a WAR of 7.7.
