Vladimir Guerrero, Blue Jays Agree To 14-Year, $500M Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Apr 7, 2025 12:24 pm

Vladimir Guerrero and the Toronto Blue Jays ended their contract standoff in a major way. Guerrero and the Blue Jays agreed to a 14-year, $500 million contract.

There is no deferred money in the deal for Guerrero. The new contract will keep Guerrero with the only team he\'s ever played for.

The 26-year-old first baseman is a four-time All-Star. After saying he wouldn\'t negotiate a new deal in-season, Guerrero relented. Toronto and Guerrero\'s camp were close in negotiations as spring training came to an end, which led to the player extending his self-imposed deadline.

This is why the Mets signed Pete Alonso instead of holding out just in case for Vlad.

$500M is a lot for a guy that is a couple of meals away from looking like Prince Fielder.

And doesn't run hard on the bases, had one mvp season in a minor league ball park, no playoff success and has hit 30 home runs in maybe 2 seasons. Hate this deal.

Horrible overpay for Toronto. Desperate management.
