Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham injured his left wrist while swinging at a pitch thrown by Washington Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez on Tuesday.
Beckham finished the at-bat by striking out and was immediately removed from the game. He is listed as day-to-day with nerve irritation.
"I knew something was wrong," he said. "I stepped out just to take a swing and kind of realized it wasn't going to be a good swing. So, obviously, I swung at the next pitch and got out of there. Just some pain in my left wrist."
