The Chicago White Sox have announced that Gavin Floyd will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the 2013 season.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Altcheck in New York City.
Floyd sought multiple opinions on the injury, hoping major surgery could be avoided.
The 30-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract with Chicago, was 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA in five starts this season.
