The St. Louis Cardinals have placed Jamie Garcia on the disabled list with a shoulder strain.
The Cardinals became aware of the issue about a week ago and had hoped Garcia could work through it.
The left-hander is 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings this season.
