Cano May End Up Testing Free Agency

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jun 21, 2013 10:53 pm

The Yankees and Robinson Cano are far apart in contract talks and it is becoming more likely that the All-Star will test free agency.

While Cano isn't speaking abut contract talks publicly, he is said to have suggested to some friends that he'd like somewhere in the neighborhood of a $275 million contract.

The Yankees aren't believed to be anywhere near that neighborhood and it has been suggested that they might offer something a lot closer to the neighborhood of the $138 million, eight-year deal David Wright signed with the Mets.

I'm not going to be surprised when he ends up a Dodger!

Note to Cashman: if you aren't going to resign him (and lets be honest here...an 8 year mega contract to a 31 year old is nuts)...trade him.

Stop it with the "at least well get a supplemental pick (if he signs with another team as a FA)" nonsense...especially since they have been drafting some serious duds in recent years.

Same with Granderson...should have just traded him in the offseason.

Mets traded a broken down Carlos Beltran to the Giants for what everyone knew was a one year rental for one of the top pitching prospects in the game in Zach Wheeler. Imagine what you could have gotten for Granderson. Imagine what you can get for Cano.

I wonder if the Yankees would be interested in a Andre Ethier-Zach Lee-Joc Pederson deal for Robinson Cano.
