Trying to remove any doubt about Alex Rodriguez's future with the Yankees, Randy Levine said the club is "desperate" for the slugger's power in their lineup.
"We need Alex back," the Yankees president said. "How effective he'll be when he comes back, how good he'll be, we don't know. But we are desperate for his right-handed power, and he's better than any third baseman on this team right now."
Rodriguez hit .272 with 18 homers and 57 RBIs in 122 regular-season games last year before being benched by manager Joe Girardi in the postseason.
