Manuel Might Step Aside, Allowing Sandberg To Manage Phillies

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Aug 11, 2013 10:03 pm

The Philadelphia Phillies will have to address their managerial situation soon.

Ruben Amaro, Jr. insists that Charlie Manuel's future won't be determined until after the season.

"It's not something we're going to deal with until after the season," Amaro said. "Nothing has changed in that sense since the beginning of the year."

The Phillies are on the fringe of playoff contention and there is speculation that they might decided on Manuel's future sooner rather than later.

"The assumption is that Manuel is going to step aside, take an advisory position with the club, and let third-base coach Ryne Sandberg become the 52d manager in Phillies history," Bob Brookover writes.
