The New York Yankees honored Mariano Rivera with a 50-minute ceremony prior to Sunday afternoon's loss to the San Francisco Giants.
The ceremony included visits from ex-teammates, the retiring of Rivera's No. 42 and Metallica performing "Enter Sandman" on the outfield warning track.
Addressing fans during the ceremony, Rivera said: "Thank you for 19 years of support. It's been a great run and you guys have been amazing. ... You guys will have a part of my heart here in New York."
Rivera, baseball's all-time saves leader with 652, will retire after the season.
