The New York Yankees are prepared to give Joe Girardi as much time as he needs to decide on their recent contract offer, according to a source.
The club is even willing to wait until the end of the month, when the manager's contract expires.
Girardi, who received an offer from the Yankees on Friday, has received interest from the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals. Girardi said at the conclusion of the regular season that he would like a quick resolution.
He is not allowed to speak officially to any other team without the Yankees approval because his current contract does not conclude until Oct. 31.
