Report: Yankees To Sign Tanaka

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:44 pm

The New York Yankees will sign Masahiro Tanaka to a seven-year, $155 million contract, according to a report.

Tanaka will have the ability to opt-out of the contract after four seasons.

The contract is the fifth-highest in baseball history for a pitcher, behind Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander, Felix Hernandez and CC Sabathia.

Not exactly unexpected. They should have gone after Darvish last year instead (would have cost them A LOT less money once you factor in taxes)...but they really didn't have any choice. Piss poor farm system producing nothing. All teams resigning/extending their aces early for big bucks = no chance for the Yanks to throw money at them until they're like 34-35+. It's not my money so hey...good job guys. :D
