Understatement of the year!!
When Happ/Stroman/Estrada start: 43-42 .506, 3.83era which is pretty impressive considering Estrada's playoff crushing summer (0-5 7.96era in 11 starts in which the Jays went 3-8)
When everyone else starts, Blue Jays are: 28-40 .411, 5.85era hilighted by Joe Biagini 3-11, 5.33era, Mike Bolsinger, 0-3 6.31era, Brett Anderson 1-2, 6.75era
In the last 3 seasons, the Red Sox have added/bought David Price, Rick Porcello, Drew Pomeranz, Doug Fister and cy-young shoe-in Chris Sale, with only Eduardo Rodriguez as their homegrown talent. Not surprisingly, they are tops in the east, even with a fledgling offense, and if not for a 22 game wCleveland winning streak, the Red Sox would be the top team in the AL.
Yu Darvish, Jake Arrieta are there for the taking. If the Blue Jays are serious about contending--even if you believe in Aaron Sanchez' fingertips, and a bounceback season for Joe Biagini--they will need to land ONE of these two superstars. They could go one step further and help thwart the upstart Yankees by adding Mashahiro Tanaka, and taking a stab at closers Wade Davis, or Greg Holland to tandem with Osuna and lock down the 7th-8th inning.
