The Detroit Tigers have reached an agreement on a new deal with Justin Verlander that could exceed $202 million, according to sources.
The deal would make Verlander the highest-paid pitcher in the game.
The base is for seven years and is worth $180 million. A vesting option for an eighth year could push the deal to $202 million.
