The Houston Astros defeated the Texas Rangers 8-2 on Sunday night, winning the first game of the 2013 season and their debut as an American League franchise.
"To come out with a win is perfect," designated hitter Carlos Pena said. "To be part of it is really cool. To play our rivals here in Texas and to come out on top today, it's a treat."
With the victory, the Astros are in sole possession of first place for the first time since April 20, 2007.
