Yankees Again Have Highest Payroll After Acquiring Wells

For the fifteenth-straight season, the New York Yankees have the highest Opening Day payroll in the Major Leagues.
The Yankees have a $228.8 million payroll. The Los Angeles Dodgers were poised to surpass the Yankees with a $215 million roster, but New York edged them when they acquired Vernon Wells from the Los Angeles Angels last week.
