Hamilton Swinging At Pitches Outside Strike Zone

The season is only a little more than a week old, but Josh Hamilton has looked bad at the plate for the Los Angeles Angels.
Entering Tuesday's action, only three players were swinging at a higher percentage of pitches outside the strike zone. He is swinging at 48% of balls. He was the leader in that category last season.
Also, his contact percentage on swings is tied for 11th-worst. That will happen when you swing at bad pitches and he was the leader in that statistic in 2012.
David Schoenfield writes that Hamilton will likely improve, but he won't be a great hitter again if he doesn't improve his discipline.
