Rays Lose Jeff Niemann For Season

Rays right-hander Jeff Niemann has decided on season-ending shoulder surgery after his arm didn't respond well to a move to the bullpen.
Niemann's surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff will be performed Wednesday.
The 30-year-old competed for the fifth starter's spot in spring training but went to the bullpen after Roberto Hernandez won the job.
