The Miami Marlins have announced that Giancarlo Stanton has a sprained left shoulder that will not require a trip to the disabled list.
Stanton had an MRI on Saturday morning after complaining of discomfort in the shoulder and missing Friday night's game. The tests showed no structural damage.
"It's the best possible news," manager Mike Redmond said. "Obviously, you have someone like him out and it's tough. The other guys just have to step up."
