Ortiz Scratched In Pawtucket, Could Lose $2M In 2014

David Ortiz was scratched from a scheduled rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday because of an illness.
That likely rules out a return to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
When Ortiz returns could have an impact on his 2014 salary. His base salary for next season can change based upon how much time he spends on the disabled list.
Ortiz's base salary would be reduced from $15 million to $13 million if he spends more than 20 days on the disabled list because of his Achilles injury.
He was placed on the DL on March 31, meaning he must return by next Sunday (April 21) to save that $2 million.
