Derek Jeter took the field and played a light game of catch with a Yankees staffer on Wednesday, another step in his return from a fractured ankle.
It was the first time Jeter was in uniform and on the field working out since he suffered the injury in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Tigers last October.
Jeter said he will be examined by the doctor who performed surgery to repair the original break last October "in the next week and a half,'' and hopes to be cleared to increase the intensity of his workouts.
There is no timetable for Jeter's return.
