The Cubs are on track to incur penalties for their international spending this offseason.
If the reported numbers hold true, Chicago would face a 100 percent tax on their overage and also be unable to sign a player from next year's international class for more than $500,000.
However, the Cubs like this summer's international free agents so much that they are willing to incur the penalties.
