Red Sox Acquire Thornton From Chicago

The Red Sox have fortified their bullpen by acquiring Matt Thornton from the White Sox.
Boston sent Minor League outfielder Brandon Jacobs to Chicago in the deal.
The trade comes six days after losing left-handed reliever Andrew Miller to season-ending foot surgery.
