GM: No Hitter On Market 'Appealed' To Rangers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Aug 2, 2013 10:54 am

The Texas Rangers were looking for a hitter prior to Wednesday's non-waiver trade deadline, but ultimately didn't acquire one.

"There was not a lot out there really appealed to us," Jon Daniels said. "I think that was indicative of the market. Teams now are signing young players long-term and you aren't getting the same caliber of player to free agency that you once did."

The Rangers did, however, acquire Matt Garza in a deal with the Chicago Cubs.

"We feel like we added the most impactful guy on the market," Daniels said. "Pitching is the strength of this club. That is how we are built."
