The Washington Nationals placed David DeJesus on revocable trade waivers almost immediately after acquiring him from the Chicago Cubs on Monday, according to sources.
Washington may not want to assume the $2.5 million DeJesus is owed over the remainder of his contract. He is owed just more than $1 million for the rest of the season.
He has a $6.5 million team option for 2014 that carries a $1.5 million buyout.
