There was a point this season that the New York Yankees were thinking about extending a qualifying offer to Phil Hughes, but that is no longer the case.

Hughes has lost his spot in New York's rotation and he struggled in relief against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. The one-year qualifying offer is expected to be worth $13.8 million this winter.

The market for starting pitchers is thin, but Hughes hasn't been able to retain his value with a 4-13 record and 4.86 ERA.

Who is his agent? Boras? I think the twins should go after him.
Not any pressure pitching in Minnesota, and then he can even grow a beard if he comes here.

I actually think he'll have a number of suitors, but $13.8 to continue playing in New York could be hard to turn down.
