The Yankees have acquired infielder Brendan Ryan from the Mariners for a player to be named later, according to an ESPN.com report late Tuesday night.
The move could mean the Yankees feel Derek Jeter may not return to the lineup anytime soon.
Ryan, a superior fielder with a weak bat, hit just .192 in 87 games for the Mariners this season, with three home runs and 21 RBIs.
