The Miami Marlins recently made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Cuban defector Alexander Guerrero.

A source confirmed that the Marlins made an offer to Guerrero before the 26-year-old signed with Scott Boras.

The Marlins were told their bid for Guerrero wasn't competitive and they're no long among his suitors.
