The Texas Rangers have missed Nelson Cruz, who is serving a 50-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, and they tried to acquire a big bat earlier this summer.

The Rangers attempted to pull off a blockbuster trade with the Atlanta Braves for Justin Upton before the July 31 trade deadline. They offered Matt Garza, Joe Nathan and David Murphy, but the deal was rejected according to two officials.

And the Braves probably laughed at that pathetic proposal. The Braves already have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Losing Upton's bat would cripple them.
