Sonny Gray To Have Thumb Surgery

Sonny Gray will have surgery on his left thumb to repair a torn ligament.
The rookie right-hander injured his thumb in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers.
The 23-year-old went 5-3 with a 2.67 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 64 innings during the regular season for the Oakland Athletics. He was even better in the postseason, compiling a 2.08 ERA and 12 strikeouts in a pair of starts.
