The Los Angeles Dodgers offered Clayton Kershaw a lifetime contract in the range of $300 million earlier this season, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
The two sides couldn't reach an agreement because Kershaw was initially uncertain about such a massive deal and about negotiating during the season, according to sources.
However, the talks were positive enough that the Dodgers are confident that a long-term deal will still be reached sooner or later. Kershaw's next contract is expected to be the largest ever given to a pitcher.
