Robinson Cano requested $300 million from the New York Yankees at midseason, but that doesn't mean that's where talks between the two sides will begin.

Cano asked for a 10-year, $300 million deal at the All-Star break, according to sources. That was his request to avoid hitting the open market.

Now that he is free to sign with any team, talks between the Yankees and their long-time second baseman are expected to begin clean.
